Product Introduction Video Production: Benefits, Demonstrations and a Free Brief Template

A product introduction video should make one useful benefit clear. Choose one audience, one situation and one benefit you can demonstrate before listing every feature. Then turn that choice into a script the team can film and the viewer can follow.
This guide helps Hong Kong brands plan a first product film. The timing and fictional examples are Allua working suggestions, rather than platform specifications, standard lead times or sales guarantees.
Choose one audience and one next action
Define where the video will appear, who will watch and what they should do next. A product page may need an explanation of the operation; a social edit may answer a single question; a sales presentation may demonstrate a particular workflow.
Start with: “For [audience], in [situation], show [how the product helps], then invite [next action].” If the sentence contains three audiences and five benefits, narrow it before filming.
Translate features into benefits and visible evidence
Product information | Audience benefit | Demonstration to film |
Foldable storage rack | Can be put away when not needed | Show opening, placement and folding with a size reference |
Interchangeable attachments | One main unit supports different uses | Show removal, attachment, compatibility and the finished setup |
Software approval workflow | Colleagues can see who acts next | Use de-identified demo data to show submission, approval and status |
These are hypothetical products. The brand must substantiate dimensions, compatibility, speed and durability. Avoid claims such as “twice as fast” without evidence. Make illustrative animation distinguishable from actual operation.
A 30-second demonstration script
Suggested timing | Picture and message | Confirm before filming |
0–4 seconds | Show one question: where does the rack go when unused? | A clear audience and situation without exaggeration |
4–10 seconds | Introduce the product and show opening; describe the current action | Consistent model, orientation and hand movements |
10–22 seconds | Show placement and folding in the same setting | Size reference, real limitations and necessary safety information |
22–27 seconds | Return to the finished state and add one key specification | Approved specification and relevant conditions |
27–30 seconds | One CTA: view dimensions and product details | A destination page with the same model and information |
This fictional rack script is not a product test. If operation takes longer, distinguish continuous demonstration from omitted time, or make a longer instructional version. Do not remove a necessary step just to reach 30 seconds.

Existing assets, an internal shoot or a production team?
If usable assets already exist, a rough edit can help test the message. Confirm their quality, usage rights and output requirements. For product detail, hand demonstrations, multiple scenes, recording or consistent brand presentation, agree the filming and post-production scope with a team before choosing tools.
Separate script approval, samples and location preparation, filming, rough cut, revisions and delivery. A product owner checks facts; marketing consolidates feedback; one person gives final approval. Editing tools can help arrange content, but cannot establish whether a product claim is true.
Six checks before the shoot
1. Do the model, packaging and specifications use the same version? 2. Are samples, accessories, spares and cleaning supplies ready? 3. Have location, hand talent, sound and operating steps been rehearsed? 4. Are dimensions, speed and other claims supported with relevant conditions? 5. Are captions, languages, ratios, duration and music usage specified? 6. Are the approver, revision rounds and launch date confirmed in writing?
Check understanding before interpreting performance
Verify the correct model, complete operating steps, readable captions, matching narration and the right CTA destination. Ask a colleague uninvolved in scripting to explain the benefit and next action after one viewing; use confusion to guide a targeted revision.
After launch, compare viewing, clicks or enquiries appropriate to the purpose, keeping platform and version information. Audience, distribution, price and purchasing experience also affect sales, so the film alone cannot explain every change.
Frequently asked questions
Must a product introduction video be 30 seconds?
No. Match duration to the question and destination. Thirty seconds is a starting example; a complex product may need a complete instructional version and separate short edits.
Can we use only product photographs?
Photographs can explain appearance and specifications. Add actual demonstrations when movement or a process matters. Transitions and animation should not imply a product test that did not happen.
Can AI-generated visuals replace filming?
Consider them for concepts or illustration, while checking product appearance, operation and claims. Use real evidence for actual performance, or clearly identify illustration. Confirm the tool’s terms and usage arrangements.
How can we limit repeated changes in post-production?
Approve the benefit, operating steps, supporting facts and CTA before filming. Specify versions and revision rounds, and distinguish a new benefit or product change from a correction within the agreed scope.
